Patio & Decorative Lighting in Albuquerque, NM
Permanent lighting for the portals, ramadas, pergolas and courtyards where Albuquerque actually spends its evenings.
What Is Permanent Patio & Decorative Lighting?
In Albuquerque, the best part of the house is often outside. A shaded portal with vigas overhead, a backyard ramada, a pergola over the grill or a walled courtyard with a chiminea is where evenings happen from spring through fall. Patio and decorative lighting makes those spaces as comfortable after sunset as they are at golden hour.
We install permanent, low-profile LED lighting along portal beams, pergola rafters, ramada edges and courtyard walls, using the same app-controlled system as our roofline lighting. It replaces the sagging string lights and extension cords that get tangled, faded and blown around every season.
Set a warm, dim scene for dinner on the portal, brighten it for cleanup, or switch to color for a birthday, a Lobos watch party or a green chile roast with friends. When it's time to call it a night, schedule the lights to fade out on their own.
Why Albuquerque Homeowners Choose Patio & Decorative Lighting
Longer outdoor evenings
Good light keeps you on the patio after the Sandias turn pink and the sun drops, instead of heading inside the moment it gets dark.
No more sagging strands
Permanent track replaces cafe strands and zip-tied extension cords that fade in the sun and whip around in spring wind.
Mood at a tap
Dim warm white for dinner, brighter light for cleanup, color for a party. Save your favorite scenes and switch from your phone.
Works with vigas and beams
We follow the lines of portal beams, vigas, latillas and pergola rafters so the light enhances the structure instead of hiding it.
Ties into the whole house
Run the patio with your roofline, walls and landscape as one scene, or keep it on its own zone for backyard-only gatherings.
Where Patio & Decorative Lighting Works Best

Portals and covered patios
Lighting along the portal beam or fascia casts a soft glow over seating areas and makes the transition from house to yard feel seamless.

Ramadas and pergolas
Tracing rafters and edges of a ramada or pergola defines the space overhead and turns it into a true outdoor room at night.

Courtyards and entry patios
Walled courtyards get layered light on the walls, gate and seating so they feel inviting from the street and cozy from inside.
Made for High-Desert Sun, Wind & Monsoons
- Intense UV
- Spring wind
- Monsoon storms
- Freeze-thaw nights
Patio structures in Albuquerque face sun on every exposed edge, and wood beams and vigas can check and move as they dry out in the high-desert air. We mount to solid structural members, allow for natural movement, and route wiring so it stays tidy and protected from UV.
Spring winds are what usually wreck patio string lights. Our track is fastened along its full length, so there's nothing to swing, snap or blow loose. During monsoon season, sealed connections and careful routing keep water out when rain blows in sideways under the portal.
Cold nights and freeze-thaw cycles don't stop a portal from getting use in winter, especially with a fire going. Our components are rated for outdoor use through those swings, and every installation is backed by our local warranty and serviced by an Albuquerque crew.

Patio & Decorative Lighting FAQs
Can you install permanent lights on a portal with vigas?
Yes. Portals with vigas and latillas are some of our favorite spaces to light. We usually run the track along the main beam or fascia and can add accent lighting between vigas if you like. We mount to solid structural members, avoid damaging older wood, and route wiring so it's tidy and out of sight as much as possible.
Is this better than string lights over the patio?
For most Albuquerque homeowners, yes. Cafe-style strands fade in the UV, sag over time and whip around during spring wind season. Permanent lighting is fastened along its full length, controlled from an app, and can change color or brightness for any occasion. If you love the look of bulbs overhead, we can talk about how to combine the two.
Can I control the patio separately from the roofline?
Absolutely. We can set the patio up as its own zone so you can dim it for dinner while the roofline stays on a holiday scene, or link everything together. You'll control all zones from the same app, set schedules for each, and save your favorite scenes so switching takes a single tap.
Will lighting work on a metal or aluminum pergola?
In most cases, yes. Metal and aluminum pergolas need different fasteners than wood, and we plan the layout around the rafter spacing and any built-in shade panels. During the site visit we'll check the structure, note where power is available, and recommend the cleanest mounting approach for your pergola or ramada.
What affects the cost of patio and decorative lighting?
Main factors include the size and shape of the structure, how many beams or edges you want lit, the material you're mounting to, whether it ties into an existing system, controller zones and the distance to power. We'll measure and walk through options with you, then send a written quote. Many homeowners start with the portal and add more later.
